Lalit Hari State P G Ayurvedic College and Hospital Pilibhit was founded in 1899 as an institute to teach Sanskrit and Ayurveda. On land given by the late Sahu Lalita Prasad and his younger brother, the late Sahu Hari Prasad, it was established. The College is among the oldest Ayurvedic colleges in the state and nation. The administration of the college chose to call it Ayurveda College in 1939. In 1959, the State Government assumed control of the college.
