Introduction to NEET PG
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Postgraduate), abbreviated as NEET PG is an entrance examination in India conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) for determining eligibility of candidates for admission to postgraduate medical programmes in government and Private college in India.
The NEET PG 2025 admission process involves online registration on the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) website, followed by paying the counseling fee, filling and locking college and course preferences, and then the seat allotment result is released. Candidates must report to the allotted institute with original documents and completed admission formalities. The MCC manages counselling for All India Quota seats, while states handle their own quotas.

Counseling Process
MCC ( Central Counselling) and State Counselling Authority ( State Counselling) conducts NEET PG counselling till four rounds, If still seats remain vacant they may proceed for further rounds of counselling.

Steps of Counselling
- Visit the official website of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) or State Counselling Authority
- Select the link for NEET PG 2025 counselling registration.
- Fill up the details like NEET PG Roll Number and Date of Birth.
- Fill also the required details such as contact information, qualification and category.
- Submit the registration fee and refundable security deposit as per the category and quota via debit/credit card, net banking, or other online modes.
- After the payment, the choice-filling process is to be continued (as per Schedule)
- Candidates have to select their preferred colleges and courses from the available list based on rank and eligibility.
- After finalizing the preferences, lock preferences before the last date. Once locked, choices cannot be changed.
MCC is going to conduct the seat allotment process based on the candidate’s NEET PG rank, category, preferences, and seat availability.
The results of the seat allotment will be announced on the official website.
- After the seat has been allotted, the candidate has to report to the college for further admission process with all the required documents.
- The candidates will get all the updates on the official website. Candidates who will qualify for the NEET PG exam are the only ones to participate in the counselling process.
- For qualifying, candidates have to score above the minimum for counselling. ( this change Year to Year)
- For the General Category, this was 50th percentile and
- For Reserved Categories, percentile was the 40th, but recent changes made by the officials have made all candidates eligible for counselling.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should follow the below eligibility criteria for NEET PG 2025:
- Candidates must have completed their MBBS degree (or an equivalent degree) from a recognized medical college or
- Candidates should have completed a compulsory rotatory internship of one year or should have completed it by 31st March 2025.
- There is no upper age limit for NEET PG 2025.
- Candidates must be registered with the Medical Council of India
- There is no specific limit on the number of attempts to appear for NEET PG
MCC will manage the counselling for 50% of seats across government institutions for the All India Quota and 100% of seats are for deemed and central universities which are going to be conducted by the respective authorities. This year the cut-off for NEET PG 2024 has been less to ensure all seats are filled.

Marking Scheme for NEET PG 2025
The NEET PG 2025 exam has included 200 multiple-choice questions divided into three sections:
- Section A (Pre-Clinical) covers 50 questions
- Section B (Para-Clinical) covers 50 questions
- Section C (Clinical) covers100 questions
Each question carries 4 marks, leading to a total of 800 marks for the exam. The marking scheme is as follows:
- +4 marks for correct answer
- -1 mark for Incorrect Answer
- No marks will be deducted in case of not attempting any question
NEET PG 2025 Result
NEET PG 2025 result will be declared online in the form of a scorecard. The result will be released online in PDF format. Candidates will have to score the minimum cut off to qualify for the exam. The qualifying cut off varies as per the category. Candidates of general category will have to score 50 percentile to qualify for NEET PG 2025. A merit list will be released based on marks scored in the exam. Shortlisted candidates in the merit list will be eligible for NEET PG 2025 counselling for seat allocation.
