The National Institute of Health and Family Welfare (NIHFW), an independent entity, was founded in 1977 through the unification of two national institutions, namely the NIHAE (National Institute of Health Administration and Education) and the NIFP (National Institute of Family Planning). This Institute tackles a diverse array of health and family welfare issues from multiple angles via its departments of Communication, Community Health Administration, Education, and Training.

Vision To be recognized as a globally esteemed Institute in public health and family welfare management. Mission To serve as a ‘Premier Technical Institute’ as well as a ‘Think Tank’ to advance health and family welfare initiatives in the nation.
