How do you take admission for the state quota?
After the results of NEET 2024, the prospectus for the MBBS/BDS admissions will be released by the Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh. An online application has to be filled out by the candidate on the website itself. In this, admission is given by the Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh, for MBBS/BDS by conducting first round, second round, and mop-up round offline counseling.

Which candidates are eligible for admission in the Chandigarh Pool quota?
Candidates who have passed 10+2 regularly from a school located in Chandigarh or whose parents are residing in Chandigarh for 5 years or candidates whose parents are employees of Central Government / State Government, who are on deputation in Chandigarh and are government employees of Chandigarh Administration are eligible for the Chandigarh Pool quota.

Notification No. GMCH/TA-1(4/E)/2018/45819-27 dated 31.10.2018 issued by Principal Secretary Home-cum-Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh Administration reproduced as under pursuance of the judgment dated 31.08.2018 passed by the Hon‟ble Punjab & Haryana High Court at Chandigarh in CWP no.
18240, 17407, 19851, 21558, 21742 of 2018 (O & M) titled as Ashu Hooda Vs. Union Territory Chandigarh & Others, the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh is pleased to frame the following eligibility criteria for admission to State Quota Seats in the MBBS course in Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh:
1. Candidates who had completed 10th, 10+1, and 10+2 from schools/colleges recognized by the Chandigarh Administration and situated in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, as regular students of the said school/college. However, this criteria shall be implemented in a staggered manner i.e. in 2019, the eligibility criteria would be only 10+2, in 2020 it will be 10+1 & 10+2 and in 2021 it shall be 10th, 10+1 & 10+2.
OR
2. Candidates whose parents have been residents of Chandigarh for the past 05 years immediately preceding the date of application, even if they do not satisfy the criteria as laid down in condition No. 1 above, the requisite residence certificate issued from the office of Deputy Commissioner will be taken as proof for this purpose.

3. Candidates whose parents are employees of Central Government/State Government who are on deputation to U.T., Administration, including government employees of Chandigarh Administration /employees working in autonomous bodies/ companies in which Chandigarh Administration has 20% or more share, for the past 03 years immediately preceding the date of application even if they do not satisfy the criteria as laid down in condition No. 1 & 2 above. However, candidates of all three categories above will have to submit an undertaking /affidavit that the candidate has not opted for and claimed the benefit of residence in any State/UT other than Chandigarh after the declaration of the NEET result.
Note: There is no seat available for the UT Chandigarh pool in the BDS course at Government Medical College and Hospital, some points regarding it are as follows:-
- Seats are open to candidates from all over India except for the NRI Category seats.
- 10 seats have been allocated to Central Pool for candidates belonging to States with no Medical/Dental college. The admission to these seats shall be made by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare as per DO No. 14014/1/2016-ME-IV dated 4th February 2016.
