Introduction 

The DNB Psychiatry is said to be a prestigious postgraduate medical qualification in India which is equal to the Doctor of Medicine degree in Psychiatry provided by Indian universities. It is awarded by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

  • The program aims to produce highly competent psychiatrists equipped with a broad range of skills to diagnose, treat, and manage mental, emotional, and addictive disorders.
  • The DNB Psychiatry curriculum is based on competency and provides rigorous theoretical knowledge and extensive clinical training. 

Eligibility criteria 

  • One  must hold a recognized MBBS degree from an institution approved by the NMC or the former Medical Council of India.
  • A one-year compulsory rotating internship must be completed in a recognized institution.
  • Must have permanent registration with either the State Medical Council or the National Medical Commission.
  • Must have qualified the NEET-PG entrance exam to be eligible for postgraduate admission.
  • Must qualify the NEET-PG entrance exam and be admitted through centralized counseling.
