DNB General Medicine : Course Details, Eligibility, Colleges & Career Scope in India

Introduction 

DNB General Medicine is a 3-year postgraduate program for MBBS graduates. The course works to trains doctors in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of adult diseases, which is also known as Internal Medicine. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences awards the degree after the successful completion of the course.

• The program includes theoretical knowledge, clinical skills, and practical application which covers a wide range of medical conditions.
• It also covers hands-on patient care, clinical case presentations, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• It helps to  stay updated with recent medical advancements.
• The program gives theoretical knowledge, clinical skills, and practical experience in managing a wide range of diseases affecting different body systems.

Eligibility criteria 

• MBBS degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Completion of a compulsory one-year rotating internship.
• Permanent registration certificate from the Medical Council of India (MCI) or a State Medical Council. Entrance and admission 
• Participation in the centralized merit-based counseling conducted by the NBE.
•  Minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the MBBS degree for some programs.

• After the completion, candidates can work as a specialist or consultant in government hospitals, corporate healthcare systems, or private hospitals.
• Can open your own clinic or diagnostic center.
• Work as an Assistant Professor in medical colleges, provided you meet the required criteria set by the NMC.
