NEET UG 2025CERTIFICATE OF DISABILITY

The Certificate of Disability is provided in accordance with the Gazette Notification for admission in medical courses under the All India Quota. It comprises the candidate’s name, NEET application number, roll number, and type of specified disability with percentage. The disabilities have been classified as physical, intellectual, mental behavior, chronic neurological conditions, blood disorders, and multiple disabilities. The certificate indicates the candidate’s suitability for admission and specifies the use of assistive devices if necessary. It is given by authorized medical authorities and must be acquired from accredited Disability Certification Centres. Candidates who need a scribe are also required to provide an undertaking confirming the scribe’s qualifications. The certificate is also valid for exam purposes for a period as defined, to be accessible to Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) in accordance with the RPwBD Act, 2016.

1. Certificate Details

  • Released according to Gazette Notification for medical admissions in All India Quota.
  • Containing the certificate number, date, and designated assessment center.
  • Name of candidate, age, NEET application, and roll number.
  • Identifying the type and percentage of disability in words as well as in figures.
  • Classification follows government guidelines.

2. Disability Types That Are Recognized

  • Physical disabilities consist of locomotor, visual, hearing, and speech impairment.
  • Intellectual disabilities entail learning disorder and autism spectrum disorders.
  • Mental behavior category involves mental illness.
  • Chronic neurological and blood diseases such as multiple sclerosis, thalassemia, and sickle cell disease.
  • Various disabilities, such as deaf-blindness, are also taken into account.

3. Medical Admission Eligibility

  • Applicants are evaluated for eligibility depending on the type and severity of disability.
  • Functional ability with the use of assistive devices is tested for some impairments.
  • Experts sign and authenticate the disability evaluation.
  • Eligible applicants can benefit from a 5% reservation under PwBD quota.
  • It is subject to medical fitness and guideline compliance.

4. List of Disability Certification Centres

  • Official centers issue certificates according to NMC norms for PwBD candidates.
  • Certificates are in aid of claims for 5% reservation in medical and dental courses.
  • List of approved centers is given in the information bulletin.
  • Certificates should be issued only from authorized centers.
  • Certification guarantees equal and standardized assessment for PwBD candidates.

5. Scribe Support & Undertaking

  • Candidates who have writing disabilities can avail a scribe during examinations.
  • Certification lays down the requirement for assistive devices and scribe support.
  • Certificate validity is up to a maximum of six months.
  • Applicants using their own scribe are required to provide an undertaking.
  • Misrepresentation of the qualification of the scribe can lead to disqualification.
