Banaras Hindu University, commonly known as BHU, is a distinguished collegiate, central, and research university located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Founded in the year 1916, it has a historical connection to the Central Hindu College, initially established in 1898 by Annie Besant, an Indian Home Rule advocate and Theosophist. Subsequently, after Besant and her associates were marginalized, the university was brought into existence through the efforts of Madan Mohan Malaviya, with significant financial backing from prominent individuals including the Maharaja of Darbhanga, Rameshwar Singh, the Maharaja of Benares, Prabhu Narayan Singh, and the lawyer Sunder Lal. BHU is notably the largest residential university in Asia, with a student population of over 30,000, including around 18,000 students residing on the campus. It holds the distinction of being recognized as one of the eight public institutions granted the status of \”Institute of Eminence\” by the Government of India and is also among the twelve Indian institutions that are part of the BRICS Universities League, a consortium of leading research universities from BRICS countries.

Admission

To get admission the student must fulfill all the eligibility criteria for the course they wish to opt for. For admission to the PDGM courses, the candidate must clear the entrance exam, after this, the candidate should participate in the counseling process and based on the merit of the candidate a seat will be allotted.
