Jigyasa University, formerly known as Himgiri Zee University, was established in 2003 with the mission of developing skilled professionals for various sectors, including social, educational, scientific, technical, and professional organizations, to contribute to social and economic growth. Located in Dehradun, the university was founded by the Essel Group under The Uttarakhand Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2024 (Uttarakhand Act No. 05, 2024). It is recognized by the UGC under Section 2(f) of the 1956 Act and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. Additionally, its School of Legal Studies is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI), the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), and the B.Ed. program by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Jigyasa University stands out as the only university in Dehradun with a partnership with the Rekhi Foundation and a swimming pool with separate timings for boys and girls.
