About
Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations was established after the state legislature passed the Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations Act in 2002. Under this act, the board replaced the competent authority entrance examination which had existed earlier. The main purpose behind forming the examination body for entrance tests by an act was to make it independent to execute the selection of candidates independently and efficiently.
Eligibility criteria
- The candidate must be a permanent resident of J&K.
- They must have passed Class 12 or equivalent from a recognized institute with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as core subjects.
- The candidate must have qualified for NEET UG 2024.

Counseling procedure
How do you take admission for the state quota?
After the results of NEET 2024, the prospectus for MBBS/BDS admissions will be issued by the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examination (JKBOPEE). Their website is https://www.jkbopee.gov.in/ and candidates must fill out the application form from the website itself. In this, admission is given by the J&K Board of Professional entrance examination (JKBOPEE) by conducting first-round counseling online, second-round and third-round counseling offline mode (Physical).
The following documents will be required while filling out the online application form:-
1) Domicile Certificate (or undertaken by candidates on plain paper stating that he/she shall produce the same at the time of counseling and for candidates belonging to UT of Ladakh, ST Certificate shall be treated as Domicile Certificate).
2) NEET Score Card
3) Matriculation Certificate for date of birth and 10+2 Marks Certificate.
4) Category certificate, if any, wherever applicable.
First Round Counseling:–
This round of counseling is conducted in an online mode. After the registration is done by the candidate they have to fill the choices. After filling out the choices, the provisional merit list is issued and candidates are allotted seats according to their choices. If a seat is allocated to the candidate in the first round then they have to go to the allotted college to submit the required documents, and all the other admission formalities have to be done.
After the seat is allotted in the first round the candidate must join it. In case, the candidate does not join the seat in the first round they cannot participate in the second round.
After joining the seat in the first round the candidate may upgrade their seat if they want. If any candidate does not get a seat allotted in the first round they must wait for the second round.
Second Round Counseling:-
The second round of counseling is conducted to fill the vacant seats after the first round of counseling. But there are very few seats which remain vacant in the second round. Candidates who have joined the seats in the first round can update the seats in the second round.
New registration is not open in this round. This round of counseling is conducted in an offline mode. If any candidate does not get any seat allotted in this round they must wait till the mop-up round. After seat allotment, the admission formalities are the same as in the first round.
3rd / Mop Up round Counseling:-
This round of counseling is conducted to fill the vacant seats after the second round of counseling. This round is also conducted in the physical mode. round. In this round, only those candidates are eligible who have not got a seat in the first round and second round. The candidates who got a seat allotted in the first round but did not join are eligible for this round but the candidates who got a seat allotted in the second round but did not join are not eligible for this round.
