Established in 1864 during the British India era as Glancy Medical College in Lahore, Government Medical College, Amritsar (GMC Amritsar) was later relocated to Amritsar, India, in 1920. The Institute was established in 1943 and is one of the oldest colleges in Punjab. The college is one of the leading Medical Colleges in Punjab.
