Syllabus of the Test

Pattern of the Test

The NEET (UG)2025 test pattern includes subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology). As per the public notice dated 25.01.2025, the exam will revert to the pre-COVID format. The question paper will contain 180 compulsory questions, which candidates must complete within 180 minutes. These updates have been incorporated into the NEET (UG) – 2025 test structure.

The pattern for the NEET (UG) – 2025 examination for admission in the Session 2025-26 is as follows:

Important Points To Note

  • Candidates must select the correct or most appropriate answer for each question. The marking scheme is as follows:
    • Correct or most appropriate answer: +4 marks
    • Incorrect answer: -1 mark
    • Unanswered question: 0 marks
  • While every effort will be made to ensure that each question has one unique answer, in case, it is found that a question has more than one option, it will be dealt in following manner:
    • If more than one option is found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
    • If all options are found to be correct then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
    • If none of the options is found correct or a Question is found to be wrong or a Question is dropped then all candidates who have appeared will be given four marks (+4) irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.

Mode of Examination

Candidates are informed that NEET (UG)2025 will be conducted as a single-day, single-session exam in pen-and-paper mode, similar to the 2024 examination.

Duration of Test

  • The test duration will be three hours (03:00 hrs). PwBD candidates with physical limitations affecting writing ability will be granted an additional one hour of compensatory time, regardless of whether they opt for a scribe or not.
  • Candidates with benchmark disabilities, as defined under Section 2(r) of the RPwD Act, 2016, and possessing a Disability Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure-V and I), are eligible for the following accommodations:
    • Scribe Assistance: Candidates with physical limitations that prevent them from writing may avail the facility of a scribe, provided it is certified by a CMO, Civil Surgeon, or Medical Superintendent of a government healthcare institution. If a candidate opts to use their own scribe, they must submit an undertaking in the format specified in Annexure-III.
    • Additional Time: A compensatory time of one hour will be granted for the three-hour exam, regardless of whether the candidate avails the scribe facility.
  • A candidate with a disability, as defined under Section 2(s) of the RPwD Act, 2016, and possessing a certificate of limitation to write in the prescribed format (Annexure-IV), will be eligible for the scribe facility and/or compensatory time.

Medium of the Question Papers

In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP), NEET (UG) 2025 will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

  • Candidates can opt for a Question Paper in any one of the following 13 languages:

  • The medium of the Question Paper must be selected carefully while filling out the Application Form, as changes will not be allowed once submitted.
  • Candidates choosing English will receive the Test Booklet in English only.
  • Candidates selecting Hindi will receive a bilingual Test Booklet in English and Hindi.
  • Candidates opting for Regional Languages will receive the Test Booklet in both English and their selected Regional Language.
    • Example: If a candidate selects Tamil, the Test Booklet will be in English and Tamil.
  • In case of any discrepancies in the translation of a question, the English version will be considered final, and the decision of NTA will be binding.
  • Candidates qualifying for NEET (UG) – 2025 will be eligible for All India Quota and State Government/Institute quotas, regardless of their chosen exam medium, provided they meet other eligibility criteria.
  • Option of Regional languages will be available as per the following table only:

The language option for the Question Paper must be selected while completing the online Application Form and cannot be modified later. It is important to note that in case of any discrepancies across different language versions, the English version will be considered final.
