What is the CUET Exam?
The Common University Entrance Exam (CUET) is an All India Level Entrance exam to get admission into leading Universities in Under-Grade and Post-Grade programs. The CUET exam is conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency). CUET was introduced in 2022, after COVID-19. This exam is accepted by more than 80 Universities including Delhi University (DU ), JNU, Jamia, BHU, Aligarh Muslim University, Central universities, and some major private universities.
This is a computer-based exam (CBT) that has an objective type MCQ (Multiple Choice Question). It is conducted once a year between (June -July).
Why CUET?
CUET came under the \” One Nation, One Exam \” policy. Until 2022, every university has its mechanism to take admissions for UG and PG programs ., To unify the process and to make the admission process more clear, CUET was introduced by MoE ( Ministry of Education ) and UGC. The more specific answer to the question is to end the Subjective bias.
Eligibility Criteria
To go on in the screening process, candidates must be familiar with MAT 2023 Eligibility and meet all requirements. The Eligibility criteria for Undergraduate programs is to obtain a minimum of 50% in class 12 for the General category and 45% for SC/ST from any recognized board. To be admitted in Post-grade programs, applicants need to have a bachelor\’s degree in any discipline with a minimum percentage of marks or equivalent grade from any recognized university. There is no age limit in particular.
CUET Exam Overview
The exam conducted at the UG level is broadly divided into three main sections: Language, Domain subject, and General Test. Two sets of Languages are offered to students, Section IA contains 13 Language and Section IB contain 20 Languages. Students have to choose one language from these two sections. Section II has 27 Domain-specific subjects. Section III is the General Test which is optional and is the same for everyone.
CUET Exam Evaluation Process
CUET exam is conducted over multiple days, in many slots, and for many different subjects. Some slots may have some tough questions as compared to others, so naturally those who have attempted easier papers will get more marks than others. Comparison of such a diverse process isn\’t possible, so there is a need for some Normalization Process. In this process taken up by NTA, the raw score of each aspirant in each subject is normalized using the Equi-Pecentile method.
How Universities take admission based on CUET
Aspiring students have to select 3 Universities while filling out their CUET exam form. After the announcement, students can claim their admission to universities by filling up an examination form, and then universities release their cutoff list including the names of students who get selected for a particular university/college. And this is how you live in your dream university.

How many Subjects can one appear for in the CUET Exam?
The Language test is fixed and one can choose only one language from those 23 languages. But from those 27 domain subject one can choose a maximum of 6 subjects. It is up to a student whether or not they want to take GT, it depends on the course and university they are choosing. However, the system has been made more flexible by giving the student a choice of choosing a maximum of 10 subjects from all 3 sections.
What is the relevance of Board exams now, Are they of no use?
To get admission into any central or university registered under CUET, you have to take the CUET exam, and to appear for that you must give your 12 Board. So, it\’s like most basic requirement to pursue your degree. However, it is not as important as earlier.
How to prepare for both CUET and board exams simultaneously?
To make it convenient to students the syllabus of CUET is aligned in such a way that anyone who is preparing for boards can easily give CUET. CUET exam syllabus for domain subjects is covered in NCERT itself.
