Karnataka Examinations Authority (Formerly known as CET Cell) conducts the Common Entrance Test (CET) for undergraduate students in Karnataka who wish to study engineering, medicine, dentistry, or agriculture and Post-Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) for graduate students in Karnataka who wish to pursue M.Tech, MCA or MBA courses. It was established in 2000

Eligibility criteria

● The candidates should have passed the NEET 2024 exam.

● Only citizens of India will be eligible for all types of seats except for NRI

quota seats.

● The students should have completed their 10+2 in PCB with English as a

mandatory subject. The minimum percentage required of the general

candidates is 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, in the case of SC/ST,

the percentage required is 40%.

● A candidate must have completed a minimum age of 17 years on or before

31st December of the academic year for admission.

● The mother tongue of applicants must be Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava. The

aspirants who do not know the above languages have to pass the language

test which is conducted by KEA.

● Applicants are required to fulfill the minimum NEET 2024 cutoff percentile.

Counseling procedure

How do you take admission for the state quota?

Prospectus for State quota admission in MBBS and BDS courses will be issued by the Karnataka Examinations Authority. Its website is https://cetonline.karnataka.gov.in/kea/  and the candidates have to fill out the registration form there. 

After the registration, the list of registered candidates will be issued by KEA. After this, the schedule for document verification will be issued by KEA. For this, the documents will have to be verified at Bangalore or any other center. After the document verification, the list of verified candidates will be released. 

After the verification of documents, the candidates will be given an application number and password, from which they can fill in the choice. The choice filled is called option entry. 

There are no Security fees that will be deposited in any round.

First Round of Counseling 

Seat allotment of the first phase is done online by KEA. If a candidate has been allocated a seat in the round then you have to deposit a one-year fee online (RTGS/NEFT), after that, you can fill out a choice again to upgrade this seat in the second round and if gets upgraded, then you do not need to deposit the fee again, it will be adjusted. 

If the seat is allotted in the first round and you are not able to deposit the fee, then you are eligible for the second round, but you will not get the choice you filled in the second round above the seat allotment. You can fill in the choice below.

In the first round, the candidates who get a seat alloted will have to give the following options, which is called Choice Entry:- 

Choice No. 01 If you are satisfied with the allotted seat in the first round and do not want to participate in the next round, then you have to choose Choice No. 01 to be filled. In this, you have to deposit one one-year fee online (RTGS / NEFT). After making this choice, you cannot participate in the next rounds.

Choice No. 02 – If you want to upgrade the allotted seat in the first round, then you have to choose Choice No. 02 to be filled. In this, you have to deposit one one-year fee online (RTGS / NEFT) and then you can participate in the second round. If your seat gets upgraded, then you do not need to deposit the fee again, it will be adjusted. In case of no seat upgrade, the previous seat will remain the same. 

Choice No. 03If you are not satisfied with the allotted seat in the first round and want to participate in the next round, then you have to choose Choice No. 03 to be filled. You do not need to deposit fees in this round. After making this choice, you can participate in the second round. All choices filled in the first round will be available for the second round but you will not get the allotted seat of the first round. 

Choice No. 04 If you are not satisfied with the allotted seat in the first round and do not want to participate in the next round, then you have to choose option no. 04 to be filled. After this, you will be out of further counseling.

Second Round of counseling 

The candidates who had not registered for the first round, re-opened the registration in the second round for those candidates. Registration was not opened again in the second round. 

All the candidates have to modify and delete the choice again of the first round, if you do not fill the choice again, then the choice filled in the first round will be valid. Seat allotment happens online in the second round also. 

If a candidate has been allocated a seat in the second round then you have to deposit a one-year fee online (RTGS/NEFT) go to the KEA office in Bangalore and submit original documents. An allotment letter will be received from the KEA office in Bangalore and receipt of original documents submitted. You have to take admission by submitting all this in the allotted college.

Mop-up round of counseling 

Candidates who have not got seat allotment in the first round and second rounds are eligible for it. Those who have been allotted seats in the first round and second round are not eligible for this round. Candidates who have not registered earlier can do fresh registration The mop-up round is offline (physical), that is, the candidate has to be present. After this, admission is given to the vacant seat according to the merit and candidate’s choice. DD of One one-year fee is required at the time of the counseling

Stray vacancy round of counseling 

Even after the mop-up round, some seats remain vacant of other quotas and NRI quotas, they are filled by the medical college concerned. A 10-time list is issued by KEA. This list is the name of those candidates, who have not got any seat yet. According to the same list, admission is given to the vacant seat according to the Merit.
