Atal Medical and Research University was established in 2017 after the Himachal Pradesh University of Health Sciences Act,2017 enacted by the state legislature. Further in 2019, the Himachal Pradesh University of Health Sciences was renamed as Atal Medical and Research University. The university offers courses in different streams of medicine such as Modern System of Medicine, Dental Sciences, Nursing Sciences, Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy, various Para-medical disciplines such as Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Speech Therapy, etc.

● The candidate must have a domicile in Himachal Pradesh.
● Candidates must have passed their 10+2 examination in the Science stream.
● The candidate must have qualified for NEET UG 2024

Counseling procedure
How to take admission for state quota?
The prospectus for MBBS/BDS course state quota admission is going to be published by Atal Medical and Research University, Himachal Pradesh after the result of NEET 2024.
Candidates must refer to the website https://amruhp.ac.in/ for online application and other updates. The application form registration fee is Rs.2000/- for candidates of general and NRI category and Rs.1000/- for SC/ST/PH categories.
After filling out the online application form the merit list list of the registered candidates will be issued by the concerned authorities on the portal and after that, the choices are to be filled.
In the Himachal Pradesh admission process, the admissions are given by the Atal Medical and Research University, Himachal Pradesh by conducting online counseling during the first round, second round, and mop-up round.
First Round Counseling:-
The first round of counseling is conducted in online mode. If the candidate has been allotted a seat in the first round of counseling then they have to download the allotment letter after logging in on the portal and then report at the allotted college with their original documents and submit the tuition fees by completing the admission formalities.
Second Round Counseling:-
The second round of allotment will be conducted to fill the vacant seats after the first round of counseling and this round of counseling is also done in the online mode. If the candidate has joined the seat in the second round of counseling of MCC, then they are not eligible to participate in the second round of counseling in Himachal Pradesh. If the candidate has not registered in the first round of counseling then they can register in the second round of counseling. The choices have to be filled again by the candidate in the second round. In the second round of counseling the seats of the first round can also be upgraded. After the seat gets upgraded in the second round, the first-round seat will be allotted to another candidate. The candidate has to complete the admission formalities for the upgraded seat in the second round. In case, the seat does not get upgraded in the second round then the seat of the first round will remain the same. If the candidate is satisfied with the allotted seat in the first round then there is no need to participate in the second round. To participate in the second round of counseling the following token amount has to be paid by the candidate. However, the candidate who has joined the seat in the first round does not need to deposit this token amount.

Mop Up round Counseling:-
This round of counseling is conducted to fill the vacant seats after the second round. This counseling is conducted in online mode. In this, all the candidates who have not been allotted any seat in the first and second rounds of counseling can participate. The candidates who had not registered in the first and second rounds, cannot do fresh registration in this round but fresh choices have to be given. Mop up round of counseling of MMMC Kumarhatti, Solan(private medical college) will be conducted by the MMMC Kumarhatti, Solan itself for HP quota and NRI quota seats.
Stray vacancy round Counseling:-
This round of counseling is conducted to fill the vacant seats of govt. MBBS/BDS after the mop-up round.
