Government Ayurvedic College Jalukbari Guwahati is the pioneer institute of the Indian system of medicine, in the entire North East India. It was established in the year 1948. The college is situated at Jalukbari, Guwahati in the foothill of Nilachal Hill near the south bank of the river Brahmaputra. Previously the College was affiliated with Gauhati University and still, the old batches of students have been continuing their courses under this University. In 2010, the college’s instruction, research, exams, and other activities were transferred to Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Assam, after the state’s founding of a health university.
