Unfair means Practices and Breach of Examination

Unfair means of practice in the NEET (UG)-2025 test means any activity that provides an unfair advantage to one candidate over another. These involve having forbidden materials, impersonation, copying, or breaking the examination rules as specified by NTA. Unfair acts like interacting with individuals, defacing answer sheets, smuggling question papers, or tampering with documents might result in severe punishment. Offenders found guilty can be disqualified, their results cancelled or barred for a maximum period of three years from appearing in NTA exams. Further, legal action can be initiated under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, to maintain a transparent and fair examination process.

Unfair Means Practices and Violation of Examination Rules

Any unfair means during an examination are prohibited and amount to a serious offense. Trying to get an unfair advantage over other candidates will have stringent penalties in the form of disqualification, cancellation of results, and legal action. Candidates should follow the rules of examinations strictly to make the process fair and transparent.

Unfair Practices Include:

  • Having items that are forbidden like electronic equipment, notes, or unauthorized material.
  • Impersonation or employing another person to sit the test.
  • Breaking examination regulations stipulated by NTA, such as contacting others while in the test.
  • Helping other people in malpractice or gaining unauthorized assistance.
  • Tearing, defiling, or secreting out test-related documents.
  • Intimidating officials or interfering with the examination process.
  • Cheating on online documents such as admit cards or rank letters.
  • Interfering with OMR sheets or furnishing false information.

Penalty for Unfair Practices:

  • Cancellation of Results: Guilty candidates will have their results canceled.
  • Debarment: Offenders can be debarred from writing NTA tests in the future for a period of 3 years.
  • Legal Action: Grave offenses can result in criminal prosecution under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
