Deemed universities are the universities that offer the same courses as other colleges but they are granted the status of autonomy as “deemed” by the DHE under the MHRD on the advice of UGC. deemed-to-be universities have full liberty and independence to decide the courses to be offered, syllabus to be prescribed, and admission procedure and fees. Some deemed universities also grant degrees on their own. deemed-to-be universities who continue to perform well, have chances to get the status of full-fledged university. There are 50 deemed to be universities across India that offer MBBS courses.
