Sardar Bhagwan Singh University was granted university status by the Government of Uttarakhand in 2018. It serves as a center of excellence in Allied Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences. Formerly known as Sardar Bhagwan Singh Post Graduate Institute of Biomedical Sciences & Research, it holds the distinction of being the first and oldest institute of its kind in North India. While the university focuses on providing quality education to students from the Sikh minority community, admissions are open to all, regardless of category, caste, creed, or religion. Since its inception in 1994, the institution has consistently worked to elevate its academic standards. The university operates under the governance of the Gaurav Bharti Shiksha Sansthan.

The teachers here are amazing—they taught us things you wouldn’t typically learn in other colleges, which made the experience truly unique. Although the campus isn’t very large, it’s efficient, well-designed, and beautifully located in the Doon Valley. The labs and infrastructure are impressive and meet all the academic needs. Even as a bachelor’s student, I was able to secure a placement, and many of my seniors got placed at reputed companies like Enzene Biosciences. The student-to-faculty ratio is great, making it easier for students to get individual attention and guidance for their careers. The faculty members are highly qualified, with most holding PhDs or master’s degrees and at least 10 years of academic experience. They are always approachable for solving problems and helping with skill development. Their teaching approach focuses more on practical, hands-on learning rather than just theoretical methods, which is incredibly effective.
