B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences is a Nepalese autonomous health science University. It is located in the city of Dharan in the Sunsari district near the sub-metropolitan. This university is a Nepal-India corporation.

The B.P. Koirala Institute has health education needs in the eastern region of Nepal at secondary, tertiary, and primary levels. The institute has 4 colleges:- the Faculty of Medicine, the College of Nursing, the College of Dental Surgery, and Community Medicine.

This B.P. Koirala Institute also has operated a 700-bed teaching hospital, undergraduate, certificate program, and postgraduate. This institute gives a doctoral degree, bachelor master\’s, and several other security degrees. On 10 March 1994, the mob\’s program began, and in 1999 the postgraduate programs started.

History

The B.P. Koirala Institute became an autonomous health sciences University and established the university on 28 October 1998. On 18 January 1993, the institute was established.

The B.P. Koirala Institute is named after the late former prime minister of Nepal Vishweshwar Prasad Koirala. The institute took the management of 150-bed Eastern regional hospitals, In 1993 a public hospital was established.

The B.P. Koirala Institute has 700 beds and added coronary care unit facilities, intensive care unit facilities, and observational beds. CT-scan, MRI, c-arm, emergency laboratory, and many other facilities. A sterilization section and operation theatre with recovery room facilities room was added.

The bachelor of surgery, the Bachelor of Medicine program of BPKIHS started in 1993 with a course duration of 4.5 years. This is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and the MBBS qualifications are recognized by the Medical Council of India.

Eligibility Criteria

• Qualification Class 12th in Science, with PCB and English subjects from a board recognized by the authorities in India.
