-In 1917, after the Russian Revolution, Kharkiv University was evacuated due to the turmoil of the time. Part of the university’s faculty and staff moved to Simferopol, Crimea, and established a branch of the university there.
-20th Century: Evolution and Growth
-In the years that followed, the Simferopol branch of the Kharkhov Unversity evolved and developed its own identity. It became known as Taurinda State University in 1921, offering a range of academic programs.
-Over the decades, the University was named after Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadsky, a prominent Ukrainian-Russian scientist and philosopher.
21st Century: Transition to Crimea Federal University
-In 2014, following the political upheaval and Russia’s annexation of Crimea, Taurida National V.I.Vernadsky University became part of the Russian education system.
-The university was restricted and renamed as Crimea Federal University, reflecting its new status as a federal institution with Russia.
